Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 6, 2014) - On Sunday, the Molloy College softball team spilled out onto the field as the crowd went wild as senior Dayna White (East Islip, N.Y.) launched a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 2, to send the Lions to a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Dominican College. The final score of Game 1 was 13-5 in five innings, while Game 2 ended in favor of Molloy, 6-4. With the wins, the Lions improved to 13-9 overall, while the Chargers slipped to 6-16.

Game 1: Molloy 13, Dominican 5 (5 innings)

Sophomore Milan Botte (San Diego, Calif.) and junior Brianne Catalano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) each recorded a two-run double in the opening inning to grab a 4-0 lead. The Chargers scored five runs to take the lead in the third and fourth frames. The bottom of the fourth, however, is when the Lions found their offensive rhythm and plated nine runs. Botte had another two RBIs in the inning, while four other Lions had run-producing base hits.

In the circle, sophomore Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) gave up five runs, but only one was earned. Sophomore Samantha Sauer (Plainview, N.Y.) pitched the final frame of the game to secure the 13-5 victory. In the batter's box, Botte went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs, while Balinskas finished 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Catalano recorded a 2-for-2 outing with a run scored and three RBIs.

Game 2: Molloy 6, Dominican 4

The Chargers scored first as four runs came across home plate in the opening inning. The Lions scored three times in the fifth to cut their deficit to one run. Catalano scored the first run on a wild pitch, while Balinskas had a two-run single. In that thrilling bottom of the seventh, the Lions tied the game when Botte reached on a Dominican fielding error, plating senior Nicolette Sinagra (Brooklyn, N.Y.). With Balinskas on-base and White at the plate, the East Islip product blasted a walk-off, game-winning two-run homer to deep centerfield to send her teammates and the Molloy faithful into a raucous and jubilant celebration.

Freshman Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) earned the win to improve her record to 4-4. She pitched the whole game, giving up four runs and striking out three.

Head Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke and the Lions return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 8 when they host Queens College at 3 p.m.
