Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Apr. 29, 2014) - The Molloy Lions' baseball squad dropped an out-of-conference game today at Dominican College, 9-7. The Lions are now 17-20 on the season, while the Chargers improve to 19-21.
Senior
Anthony Eichhorn (Sayville, N.Y.) made his first start of the season throwing 4.2 innings allowing two earned runs, striking out nine, and walking seven. Reliever
Matt Castaneda (East Meadow, N.Y.) was credited with the loss, tossing the final 2.1 innings and allowing three runs.
After Dominican scored to open the game, Molloy would score two runs in the second and third innings. Junior
John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch, before sophomore
Nicholas Gonchar (Staten Island, N.Y.,) hit a sacrifice fly to give the Lions their first lead of the game, 2-1.
In the top of the third, sophomore
Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y.) added a two-run double. Guzman went 1-for-3 with four RBIs and a walk. Dominican, however, would score five runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth to take the lead back.
Trailing 6-4 in the top of the eighth, Molloy started a rally. The Chargers' infield committed an error, allowing Galanoudis and junior
Kyle Van Duyne (Sayville, N.Y.) to score on the play -- tying the game up at six, but the lead would not last for long. Dominican would add three in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good, 9-6.
Galanoudis added an RBI single in the top of the ninth, but the Lions' comeback bid stopped there. The junior finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
