Baseball Defeated by Felician, 10-3

Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Apr. 22, 2014) - On Tuesday evening, the Molloy College baseball team traveled to Rutherford, N.J. to take on non-conference opponent Felician College as the Lions tune up for their weekend series versus East Coast Conference-rival Queens College. Tonight, however, the Lions weren't able to put one in the win column, as the Golden Falcons bested Molloy, 10-3 to improve to 20-15 overall. Molloy slipped to 14-18 on the season.

Behind 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning, Molloy scored its first run of the game when junior John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) tripled and brought home freshman Ronald Bauer (Hicksville, N.Y.).

Felician scored five unanswered runs to increase its lead to 9-1 through six innings. In the top of the seventh frame, Molloy freshman Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) walked with the bases loaded to allow fellow rookie Ryan Dillon (Medford, N.Y.) to touch home plate. The Golden Falcons grabbed that run back in the bottom half of the inning, before Molloy scored its third and final run of the game in the ninth. Senior Carlos Guzman (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) recorded a sacrifice fly in that final frame.

At the dish, Bauer finished 2-for-4, while on the hill, freshman Bobby Kelly (Mineola, N.Y.) was strapped with the loss as he surrendered four runs (one earned) on four hits in three innings. He fell to 0-1 on the season.

Head Coach Joe Fucarino and the Lions return to the diamond on Friday, Apr. 25 when they host ECC-foe Queens College beginning at 3 p.m.
