Women's Lacrosse Falls to St. Thomas Aquinas, 15-10

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 19, 2014) - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College women's lacrosse squad dropped an East Coast Conference-contest with St. Thomas Aquinas College at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex, 15-10. The Lions are now 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the ECC, while the Spartans are 12-3 on the year and 6-1 in the league.

After St. Thomas Aquinas started the game off on a 4-1 run, the Lions scored three straight to tie the contest. Senior Candice Noakes (Levittown, N.Y.), freshman Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior Meghan Orlando (Hicksville, N.Y.) had the trio of goals between the 18:23 and 15:10 marks. St. Thomas Aquinas then reeled off five unanswered tallies to take a 9-4 lead.  Each team scored two goals before the intermission.

After halftime, the two clubs went back and forth trading a goal or two, but the Spartans' first-half lead was too much for the Lions to overcome.

Orlando had two goals and two assists, while sophomore Katie O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) netted two markers and dished out one assist. Sesselman found the back of the cage twice.

In net, sophomore Caroline Winters (Baldwin, N.Y.) made 12 saves.

Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions return to the field on Saturday, Apr. 26 when they wrap up the regular season by hosting Queens College at 12 p.m.  Senior Day festivites will begin before the opening draw control.
