Box Score 2 WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Apr. 19, 2014) - On Saturday, the Molloy College baseball squad split an East Coast Conference doubeleheader versus the University of Bridgeport in West Haven, Conn. In Game 1, the Lions fell to the Purple Knights, 4-3, before taking the second contest, 1-0. Molloy is now 14-16 overall and 7-8 in the ECC, while Bridgeport is now 13-20-1 on the year and 7-12 in the league.

Kevin Podell (Wantagh, N.Y.) and sophomore
Deilyn Guzman (East Hampton, N.Y.) recorded RBI singles. Bridgeport grabbed one of those runs back in the fourth to cut its deficit in half. In the top of the eighth, Molloy junior
Kyle Van Duyne (Sayville, N.Y.) doubled in D. Guzman to increase his team's lead to 3-1. In the bottom half of the inning, however, the Purple Knights were able to push three runs across home plate to win, 4-3.
All four runs were charged to senior starter
Alex Miden (Ozone Park, N.Y.), although one wasn't earned. He struck out eight in 7.2 innings.
Game 2: Molloy 1, Bridgeport 0In the top of the fifth, senior
Carlos Guzman (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) singled in freshman
Brian Murphy (Elmont, N.Y.) for the game's only run. Sophomore starting pitcher
Shea Spitzbarth (Staten Island, N.Y.) hurled a gem of a game. He pitched all seven innings, surrendering just one hit. He also struck out eight batters.
