Women's Lacrosse Handles Roberts Wesleyan in ECC Win, 19-13

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 18, 2014) - The Molloy College Lions' women's lacrosse squad defeated the Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks, 19-13, this afternoon to improve to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in East Coast Conference-play.  The Redhawks fell to 5-10 and 2-4 in the league. 

Molloy used separate first-half runs of 5-0 and 3-0 to pull away from Roberts Wesleyan. At the end of the first half it was 10-5 in favor of the Lions. The second half was closer with the Lions still prevailing, 9-8.

Senior attack Samantha Arlotta (Garden City Park, N.Y.) scored six goals on seven shots, while also picking up three ground balls.  Freshman Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) also had a six-point day, with four goals and two assists.

Sophomore goalie Caroline Winters (Baldwin, N.Y.) kept the Redhawks at bay making 13 saves to secure the victory.

Molloy outshot Roberts Wesleyan, 40-29, had the edge in draw controls (20-16), and were a perfect 18-for-18 on clears.

Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions are next in action tomorrow when they face ECC-opponent St. Thomas Aquinas College. The opening draw control is scheduled for noon. You can follow LiveStats and an audio/video broadcast right here on MolloyLions.com.
