(Mar. 9, 2014) - On Sunday, the Molloy College baseball team dropped to 2-5 on the season after getting shutout by Southern Connecticut State University, 2-0 at the Lynn Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. Despite being outhit by the Lions, 7-4, on the afternoon, Southern Connecticut notched the win and improved to 2-2-1 overall.
Owls' starting pitcher Jordan Hamler needed only two runs to back his performance as he hurled eight shutout innings, striking out six. T.K. Kiernan came on in the ninth for the save.

Carlos Guzman (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) had two hits for the Lions, while junior
Kyle Van Duyne (Sayville, N.Y.), sophomore
Nicholas Gonchar (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior
Zach Norton (West Chester, Pa.) all had a double each.
On the hill for Molloy, sophomore starter
Shea Spitzbarth (Staten Island, N.Y.) threw six innings of one-run ball, whiffing nine batters. He was strapped with the loss.
