Baseball Loses to Wilmington in Florida, 10-4; Rained Out Versus Saint Rose

Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. (Mar. 7, 2014) - After getting rained out following two innings versus the College of Saint Rose on Thursday afternoon, the Molloy College baseball team took to the field in game 2 of its southern trip to Lynn University and the Sunshine State, falling to Wilmington University, 10-4. With the loss, Molloy dropped to 2-3 on the young season.

In the third and fourth innings, Wilmington found another three runs to build its lead to 10-0. Molloy scored four in the top of the ninth inning to inch a little closer, but ultimately fell to its opponent, 10-4. In that ninth frame, rookie Ronald Bauer (Hicksville, N.Y.) had an RBI single, senior centerfielder Carlos Guzman (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) rocketed a two-run double and junior DH/outfielder John Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded an RBI single. Freshman Ryan Dillon (Medford, N.Y.), Bauer, freshman outfielder Anthony Alberghina (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Carlos Guzman scored.

Out of the Lions' bullpen, senior Anthony Eichhorn (Sayville, N.Y.), and sophomores Peter Vath (Selden, N.Y.) and Marco Martino (Garden City, N.Y.) all combined for four shutout innings, whiffing four batters.

Head Coach Joe Fucarino and the Lions are back at it tomorrow, March 8 when they take on Lynn University at 2:30 p.m.  LiveStats and a video webcast will be available right here at MolloyLions.com.
