Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Post University, 19-6

Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. (Mar. 26, 2014) - On Wednesday afternoon, the Molloy College men's lacrosse team improved its overall record to 5-3 as the Lions steamrolled past Post University, 19-6 at LaMoy Field in Waterbury, Conn.  Three different Molloy players scored four goals each: junior attacks Tom Engelhardt (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.), and sophomore attackman Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.).

With the loss, the Eagles fell to 3-7 on the season.

Engelhardt and Leonard each had a pair of tallies in the first quarter, while Teresky and junior midfielder Tom Turner (East Rockaway, N.Y.) scored one apiece. At the conclusion of that opening period, the Lions led, 6-0.

With five minutes remaining before halftime, the Eagles scored a man-up goal to trim their deficit by one. Molloy scored twice in the second quarter, before the Eagles found the back of the netting once more before the intermission. At halftime, Molloy held the advantage in goals, 8-2.

The Eagles scored on three occasions in the third quarter. However, the Lions answered by doubling that number and netting six tallies. Teresky had three of those six goals.

The game was pretty much in-hand after three periods as the Lions led, 14-5. Molloy scored an additional five goals in the final quarter for good measure, which turned its tally-total to 19. WIth just one marker in that final quarter, the Eagles had six goals and fell way short of their guests' amount.

For the Lions, besides the 12 goals scored by Leonard, Teresky and Engelhardt, four other players found the back of the cage. Sophomore midfielder Austin Valenti (Baldwin, N.Y.) had a hat trick, while sophomore midfielder Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Turner had one each. Junior attacker Steve Marrandino (Lynbrook, N.Y.) netted two goals. In net, senior cageminder John Grebe (Farmingville, N.Y.) made 11 saves.

Head Coach Eric Petrullo and the Lions return to the field on Saturday, Mar. 29 when they play at Seton Hill University. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Greensburg, Pa.
