Women's Lacrosse Stumbles Against Bentley, 11-6

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 21, 2014) - On Friday evening, the Molloy College women's lacrosse squad lost to Bentley University, 11-6 at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y.  With the win, the Falcons improved to 1-4 overall. Following the defeat, the Lions slipped to 4-4 on the season.

The Falcons started the game off with two goals in the first six minutes of regulation. Molloy freshman midfielder Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) halved that deficit when she scored at the 22:15 mark. One minute later, Bentley upped its lead to two goals again when Jackie Brown netted a tally. Down 3-1, the Lions found the equalizers at the 20:36 and 17:24 marks as senior midfielder Samantha Arlotta (Garden City Park, N.Y.) scored twice, with the second coming off a feed from fellow senior midfielder Candice Noakes (Levittown, N.Y.).

From 11:35 to 10:36, the Falcons broke the tie and recorded three unanswered goals. This 6-3 advantage would carry over into the intermission.

With four minutes gone by in the second period, Lions' freshman attack Alexa Watson (North Massapequa, N.Y.) notched a goal to bring Molloy to within two. That slimmer deficit only lasted five minutes as Bentley found the back of the cage three straight times to take a 9-4 lead with 14:35 remaining in the contest. Noakes and Sesselman scored in the subsequent minutes, but those tallies were offset by two more Falcons' goals, turning the final score to 11-6.

For the Lions, Sesselman and Arlotta finished with two goals each, while Noakes picked up two points as well (1 goal, 1 assist). In the cage, sophomore goalie Caroline Winters (Baldwin, N.Y.) made 13 saves.

For the Falcons, Carolyn Kynoch had three goals and one assist, while Brown finished with a hat trick as well. In net, Ally Dorman stopped 12 shots.

Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions return to the field on Saturday, March 29 when they play at the University of Bridgeport. The East Coast Conference-showdown will begin at 1 p.m.  Check back right here at MolloyLions.com for links to LiveStats and/or a video webcast.
