Box Score BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (Mar. 1, 2014) - On Saturday, the Molloy College men's lacrosse squad began its 2014 campaign with a loss to Dowling College, 15-7 at Golden Lions Field in Brookhaven, N.Y. With the win, Dowling is now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the East Coast Conference. Following the defeat, the Lions are 0-1 on the year and in the ECC.
In the first period, Molloy outscored its opponent, 4-3. Freshman
Connor Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) had two of those four goals. The Golden Lions flipped that trend around and doubled up their guests, 4-2, in the second quarter. In that second period, junior
Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season, while fellow junior
Tom Engelhardt (Bethpage, N.Y.) netted his second of the game.
Ahead 7-6, Dowling found four insurance goals in the third quarter, whereas the Lions weren't able to find the back of the netting. Behind 11-6 in the fourth, Molloy was only able to score once, as Dowling secured the 15-7 triumph.
For Molloy, Slane netted three goals, while Engelhardt had two. Leonard and sophomore
Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) had the other two tallies. Freshman
Jon Camposa (Syosset, N.Y.), sophomore
Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.) and Leonard all were responsible for two assists each.
