Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Mar. 19, 2014) - On Wednesday, the Molloy College softball team fell in doubleheader action to Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla., 3-0 and 2-0. The losses dropped the Lions to 1-7 overall and their spring training trip to Florida has now concluded. With the wins, Barry improved to 18-8 on the season.
Game 1: Barry 3, Molloy 0Barry scored in the first two innings of the game, which ended up being the difference. Molloy sophomore pitcher
Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) surrendered the three runs, although just two were earned. The Lions were only able to muster three hits off of Barry's pitching in Game 1. Junior second baseman
Brenda Lee (Corona, Calif.) had two of those hits, while senior left fielder
Dayna White (East Islip, N.Y.) recorded the other.
Game 2: Barry 2, Molloy 0In Game 2 of the twinbill, Barry drew first blood in the opening inning when a run came across due to an RBI single up the middle. Later on, the hosts found their insurance run in the sixth frame on a sacrifice fly. The Lions ran into some tough Barry pitching just like earlier in the day for Game 1. Molloy recorded four hits in the game with two belonging to sophomore catcher
Milan Botte (San Diego, Calif.). Freshman third baseman
Ashley Fedor (Monroe, Conn.) and senior right fielder
Lauren Alexander (Huntington, N.Y.) had the others. Freshman pitcher
Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) went all six innings, striking out three.

Susan Cassidy-Lyke and the Lions return to the diamond on Saturday, March 22 when they host American International College in their 2014 home opener.
