Men's Lacrosse Drops Overtime Heartbreaker to Chestnut Hill, 11-10

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. (March 15, 2014) - The Molloy College men's lacrosse team suffered an 11-10 overtime loss to Chestnut Hill College in Lafayette Hill, Pa. on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Molloy fell to 3-2 (0-2 ECC play) on the year, while Chestnut Hill improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. 
 
The host Griffins rallied back from two goals down in the fourth quarter and Michael Melnychenko netted his fourth goal of the game 24 seconds into overtime to cap off the comeback.
 
Molloy led 5-3 at the half, and 7-5 at the end of the third quarter, but could not retain the advantage in the fourth.
 
The Lions got all 10 of their goals from just three players. Sophomore Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) led the squad with four goals, while junior Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.) and junior Tom Engelhardt (Bethpage, N.Y.) each had a hat trick.
 
Molloy struggled at the faceoff, only going 8-25, and were limited to only 18-25 on clears.
 
Head Coach Eric Petrullo and the Lions are back in action Wednesday, March 19 as they head to Manchester, N.H. to take on St. Anselm College. First faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
