Men's Lacrosse Takes Down AIC, 14-8

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (Mar. 11, 2014) - The Molloy College men's lacrosse team scored a convincing victory Tuesday evening, defeating American International College, 14-8, in a non-conference matchup at Abdow Field. The win put the Lions at 3-1 on the season. The Yellow Jackets, a Northeast-10 Conference foe, fell to 0-5.

Though Molloy struck first with a goal by junior midfielder Tom Turner (East Rockaway, N.Y.), American International answered back by scoring the next three goals in three-and-a-half minutes. Both teams went quiet for the next six minutes, until junior midfielder Sal Geneva (Hicksville, N.Y.) found the back of the net with two seconds left to go in the first quarter, bringing the Lions within one.

Junior attack Tom Engelhardt (Bethpage, N.Y.) tied the game with a goal in the first minute of the second quarter, followed by two more Molloy goals over the next four minutes. Though American International was able to tie the score one more time in the second quarter, the Lions wouldn't fall behind again for the rest of the game.

Molloy outscored American International, 6-3 in the second half. Sophomore midfielder Peter Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) contributed three of those goals, his total for the game. On the defensive end, senior goalie John Grebe (Farmingville, N.Y.), who had 14 saves in the game, allowed just one AIC goal in the fourth quarter, helping the Lions secure a 14-8 win.

Sophomore attacker Kevin Teresky (South Huntington, N.Y.) contributed three goals and three assists for Molloy. Both Engelhardt and freshman midfielder Jon Camposa (Syosset, N.Y.) finished the game with two goals.

Four players—Bobby Spano, Nick Amendt, Justin Bard, and John Magliano—scored two goals apiece for American International.
