Women's Basketball Bests Dominican, 68-55

Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Nov. 22, 2014) - On Saturday, the Molloy College women's basketball team was powered by four different double-digit scorers as the Lions took down Dominican College in Day One of the 2nd Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament, 68-55. The tournament is being hosted by Dominican in Orangeburg, N.Y. With the win, the Lions improved to 2-1 overall, while the Chargers fell to 0-4 on the year.

Junior Kimani Jackson (Dix Hills, N.Y.) led the way with 16 points, while sophomore Aliyah McDonald (Hempstead, N.Y.) scored 13, junior Alexia O'Connor (Centerport, N.Y.) contributed 12 and junior Ally Leftridge (Melville, N.Y.) popped in 11 points. Senior Nicole Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) paced the team in the rebounding department with nine on the afternoon. Moreover, O'Connor sunk three of her six attempts from three-point land.

Molloy earned its first lead of the game at the 12:02 mark when Jackson drove in a lay-up to change the score to 11-10 in favor of the Lions. The rest of the first half played extremely tight as the crowd witnessed three scoring ties and a lead not greater than four points. At the intermission's buzzer, Molloy held the advantage at 29-27.

The second half was all-Molloy as the Lions never relinquished the lead for the entire 20-minute stanza. The Lions never led by less than six points as a few runs set themselves apart from the Chargers.

Molloy shot 35.2% from the floor, while draining seven three-pointers out of 16 tries (43.8%).
