Women's Basketball Downed by Le Moyne, 75-61

Box Score BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov. 16, 2014) - On Sunday, the Molloy College women's basketball team wasn't able to repeat its season-opening winning ways from yesterday as the Lions were tripped up by Le Moyne College on Day 2 of the University of Bridgeport Women's Basketball Classic, 75-61. The Dolphins improved to 2-0 with the win, while Molloy saw its record on the young season even up at 1-1.

The Lions outscored the Dolphins in the opening half, 39-36, but couldn't continue that trend in the second stanza as Le Moyne outpaced its opponent, 39-22.

For the majority of the first half, the Dolphins led. With 9:07 remaining before the intermission, the Lions were able to tie the score off a pair of converted free throws from senior guard Nicole Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.). The two clubs would trade baskets back and forth for the duration of the first period, including passing the lead back to each other. At halftime, Molloy led, 39-36. Junior guard/forward Kimani Jackson (Dix Hills, N.Y.) drained a jumpshot four seconds before the buzzer sounded.

The Dolphins found their offensive stride and rhythm in the second half and with 10 minutes gone by in the period, Le Moyne had built up a double-digit advantage. Maddie Hahesy hit a three-pointer with 9:26 left to put Le Moyne ahead, 65-53. From that point on, Molloy wasn't able to minimize its deficit into the single digits.

For the Lions, Jackson posted 18 points, while junior forward Ally Leftridge (Melville, N.Y.) scored 16. Jackson also added five rebounds.

VERSUS THE DOLPHINS: This was the first time the women's basketball program squared off against Le Moyne College since December 29, 2008 at the San Diego Surf 'N' Slam Hoop Classic...Molloy won that meeting, 69-66.

UP NEXT: Head Coach Kate Lynch and the Lions return to action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they play Dominican College in the 2nd Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m.

SCOUTING DOMINICAN: The Chargers are currently 0-2 this year after falling to Stonehill College (69-54) and Assumption College (59-40)...Dominican finished 12-15 last year (10-9 CACC).
