SJU-HOFSTRA INVITATIONAL RESULTS
OAKDALE, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2013) - On Saturday, the Molloy College men's and women's cross country squads kicked off their 2013 campaigns at the Hofstra-St. John's Invitational in Oakdale, N.Y. The men's squad placed third out of seven teams in the 5,000-meter, while the women finished sixth out of eight in the 4,000-meter race.
On the men's side, sophomore
Conor Gallagher (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) finished 18th with a mark of 16:04.20, while senior
Luke Merz (Babylon, N.Y.) placed 26th with a timing of 16:17.30. Sophomore
Mike Darnell (Wantagh, N.Y.) crossed the finish line at 16:37.10, which was good for 35th. Finishing in about the middle of the pack was freshman
Shane Martensen (East Islip, N.Y.), who clocked in at 17:02.00 (58th).
Senior
Caitlin Breen (Williston Park, N.Y.) proved fastest on the women's squad, placing 15th with a time of 16:06.49. Junior
Rachel Staiano (East Meadow, N.Y.) came in 43rd with a mark of 17:06.70.
The Lions are back in action next Saturday, Sept. 14, when they compete at the LIU Post Invitational in Brookville, N.Y. The event starts at 10:30 a.m.
