Box Score NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Sept. 7, 2013) - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College women's soccer team fell at the hands of Merrimack College, 5-1. With the win, the Warriors improved to 1-0 on the year, while the Lions dropped to 0-1 on the young season.
Merrimack was able to score three times in the first half. Katie Bresciani netted a marker in the third minute, which was followed by an eighth-minute tally from Jenna Savi. Alana Vecchiarello closed out the opening stanza with a goal with 20 seconds remaining before halftime.
Vecchiarello continued the scoring in the second period with a goal in the 67th minute. Four minutes later, Molloy sophomore
Alicia Mercurio (Williston Park, N.Y.) found the back of the netting for her first goal of the year. Merrimack would tack on another goal for the 5-1 victory.
In net, junior goalkeeper
Nicole DellaPorta (West Babylon, N.Y.) made five saves for Molloy, while Nicole Curtis did most of the heavy lifting for the Warriors, logging 69 minutes in goal and stopping three shots.
