Box Score SPARKILL, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2013) - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College women's soccer squad topped East Coast Conference-opponent St. Thomas Aquinas College, 2-1 in Sparkill, N.Y. With the win, the Lions improved to 3-12 overall and 3-4 in the league. Meanwhile, following the defeat, the Spartans slipped to 2-11 on the year and 0-8 in the ECC.
The two squads looked to head into halftime with the score knotted at 0-0. However, Molloy rookie
Caroline Rodgers (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) had other plans as she notched a goal with 22 seconds remaining before the intermission. She scored off a feed from fellow freshman
Jessica Malone (Long Beach, N.Y.), which she headed into the net from the inside the box.
The Spartans tied things up with a 74th-minute marker from Mae Comerford, off a pass from Paige Montillo.
Seventy-five seconds later Molloy would find its eventual game-winner as senior
Sami Saad (Valley Stream, N.Y.) found the back of the netting off a pass from junior
Allison Sloper (Williston Park, N.Y.). Like Rodgers' tally, Saad's was also a header; the difference being it came off Sloper's corner kick.
In goal for Molloy, junior
Nicole DellaPorta (West Babylon, N.Y.) made six saves, while the Spartans' Lauren Morales stopped eight shots.
