Bill Buith was named the head coach of Molloy's men's and women's cross country and track and field programs prior to the 2018-19 seasons.
Buith made an immediate impact, guiding student-athletes to earn All-ECC honors in 12 events in his first season at the helm. In 2018-19, Brian Michels was the conference champion in the mile and the 1,500-meter and was named Google Cloud Division II All-Academic District 1 Men's Track/Cross Country First Team.
In 2019, the men's cross country team placed second at the East Coast Conference Championship, while Kristi Ackerina was awarded the league's Rookie of the Year. The success continued into the winter season, with the indoor track and field programs setting 12 program-records, including an ECC Championship record in both the 1000-meter (2:32.23) and the DMR (10:21.92), both on the men's side.
Buith comes to Molloy after serving as the head coach of the cross country and track field programs at Nassau Community College from 2017-18. With the Lions, he coached the men's and women's Region XV Champion and two All-Americans at the NJCAA DIII National Championship during the cross country season. During track, he guided two Individual National Champions and three All-Americans at the NJCAA DIII National Championship.
Prior to his time at Nassau, Buith coached at New Hyde Park High School from 2009-17, where he led the boys' team to its first-ever title during the Spring of 2016, to go along with multiple All-County honorees.
The Garden City, N.Y. native received his Associate's Degree from Nassau, where he played two years of soccer and ran one year of track and field, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland, where he ran one season of cross country, two seasons of track and field, and played a year of soccer.
