Senior attackman Joe Leonard (Hicksville, N.Y.) of the Molloy College men's lacrosse team was selected as the East Coast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year on Wednesday. He also was named to the All-ECC First Team.
Leonard is currently tied for the top scoring title in the nation. Leonard is averaging 5.36 points per game to lead all of NCAA Division II, while tallying 78 points (second in the league). Leonard tops the league with 47 goals and ranks third in Division II with 3.14 goals per game. He also ranks third in the ECC with 31 assists. Leonard earns his third All-League accolade in as many years, as he was named to the All-ECC Second Team in 2014 and the All-ECC First Team in 2013. Leonard has accomplished numerous feats, including breaking a bunch of program records, with only being in a Lions' uniform for three years as he was a transfer from Division I St. John's University. Leonard finishes his collegiate career as Molloy's all-time career points leader with 217, is tied for the program record (with Engelhardt) for career goals with 118, and ranks second in school history with 99 career assists. During the 2015 campaign, Leonard earned nine ECC weekly accolades -- eight Honor Roll selections and one ECC Player of the Week laurel.
