Junior utility Tracey Balinskas (Edison, N.J.) from the Molloy College softball team was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Year on Thursday, as well as selected to the All-ECC First Team for the third year in a row.
Balinskas ranks near the top of the conference in multiple offensive categories. She is tied for the league-lead in home runs (12), ranks second in hits (67), batting average (.421) and on-base percentage (.480), and slots fourth with 39 runs batted in. Balinskas is also atop the ECC leader board with 46 runs scored, 17 doubles, 126 total bases and a .792 slugging percentage to date. Her slugging percentage is among the best in Division II, currently as the 35th highest total in the nation. In addition, she has contributed in the circle accumulating 11 wins, good for fourth in the conference, and ranking second by striking out 116 hitters.
